Description:
The purpose of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress. This course is Blended Learning meaning the participant must complete online training prior to attending the course. There is an online orientation the Tuesday before the first day of class required to attend via zoom. _________________________________________

Required age: 16+ on the day of the activity
Prerequisites: 1. Be 16 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Bring photo ID proof on the first day. 2. Swim 25 yards of each stroke - front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and 15 yards of butterfly. 3. Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling). 4. Tread water for 1 minute.
