Description:
Aerial silks, also known as fabric or tissue, is a captivating form of aerial artistry that involves performing acrobatic maneuvers on a pair of hanging fabric panels. The fabric is typically made of strong, slightly stretchy material, allowing performers to wrap, climb, twist, and drop with grace and control. Our Level 1 Silks classes is for participants in their first year of practice. Led by expert instructors, each class is adapted to be accessible to all. Strength and flexibility are developed week by week. You will be guided through foundational techniques, learning climbs, wraps, and poses with safety and precision. In a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, participants find empowerment in conquering new heights while fostering friendships and community bonds. Ready to soar to new heights? Required age: 8 - 12 years old on the day of the activity
Notes: Bring a water bottle. Dress code: -No zipper or any metal or hard plastic on clothing that could snag the fabric. Participants will not be permitted on the circus school apparatus if wearing zippers. -All jewelry or watches that could snag should be removed. -Long leggings or track pants and a t-shirt that won't ride up when upside-down is ideal to protect the skin from rubbing. For certain moves, longer sleeves or socks might be useful. We will work mainly barefoot.
Prerequisites: It is recommended to first take a 4-class Intro to Aerials session before joining this class unless you have some previous experience on the aerial silks.
