Description:

Riverside Arts Center is excited to introduce our newest workshop series: Movement and the Voice.

These monthly workshops will help participants connect to their voice, their body, and the music around them as they practice mindful listening through group singing and movement. You can look forward to sonic meditations, rounds, and working together to create improvisatory tableaus of sound and movement.  Participants will enter into a supportive, judgment-free space that encourages creativity, confidence, and unabashed expression.

Each workshop will develop and strengthen participants' deep listening and observation skills. This deep listening practice will help create a sense of communal practice, while expanding the way the individual consumes music and movement as an active observer. This will provide a foundation for improvisatory work where after this initial step of deep listening, participants will absorb that information and respond with movement that feels both intuitive based on impulse, and intentional. Repeat attendees will grow with each other and strengthen each other's practice and sense of community.

These workshops will also focus on developing a communal mindfulness practice. Through these sonic meditations and breath-work, participants may experience a sense of healing and strengthening of their inner-self.

Disclaimer: This workshop might be considered to be therapeutic to participants but in no way should be treated as therapy, or a substitute for therapy led by a licensed therapist.
