Description:

In this dance workshop, students will get a chance to learn a variety of dance styles
including jazz, contemporary, and African Diasporic styles. Day one will be focused on
building vocabulary, while day two will be focused on incorporating this vocabulary into
choreography and improv.
Tania has a background in Street & Club Styles and West African Dances. She loves the
story telling aspect of Circus Arts and Dance. She will help with developing musical timing
and rhythm, as well as exploring play and individuality in these movement styles.
Mari has been dancing since she was born. At age seventeen, after years of intensive pre
professional Russian training, she accepted a company soloist contract at Canyon Concert
Ballet (CCB). Since then, Mari has danced roles in numerous classical and contemporary
ballets under directors from CCB, Colorado Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and more. In May of
2017 she graduated from SANCA’s P3 program specializing in aerial hoop, but well versed
in many areas of circus. Mari has since featured the results of her meticulous athletic and
artistic training in performances and gigs all over the country as an acrobat, aerialist, and
dancer of many styles.
Laura has an extensive background in jazz, tap, and musical theatre. She has also dabbled in
many other dance forms including ballet, contemporary, modern, lindy hop, tango, and
capoeira. She incorporates her dance into her circus acts and is excited to bring more dance
classes to SANCA to help build a dance program here.

Required age: 18+ on the day of the activity

Prerequisites: Enthusiasm for Circus and Dance!
