Description:

This is an open gym session specifically for people to do partner acrobatics together. So come and jam with us at ECTA! Please read the below guidelines before registering.

1) At ECTA, we strive to maintain a safe, accepting, and inclusive space for everyone, which is dedicated to community based Acro play. Healthy adult behavior is fundamental in creating the high level of trust required for us to play like kids in a sport that is physically close and that has inherent risks. It is not appropriate to be dismissive, coercive, aggressive, or to be cruising for dates at our events.

2) We are all responsible for each other, stay aware and play safe.

3) Ask for a spot. Have a spot for new moves. Spotters stay focused. Use mats and lines for new moves. Keep everyone safe!

4) Down means DOWN. Call “down” early and often. It is everyone’s responsibility to call “down” if they see a danger.

5) Be aware of others around you, as well as objects. Make sure you have enough space between you and others. Politely ask for space if you need more. Spotters call “down” if things shift dangerously.

6) Make sure everyone involved knows what is going to happen, and that they both understand and are comfortable with their role.

7) It’s all about consent, No means NO. If the flyer, base, or spotter does not want to do something, we respect their decision. We don’t pressure anyone, and we notice when someone is reluctantly approving and address unspoken concerns.

8) Act gracefully with declined offers. This applies to both turning somebody down and being turned down. We can be direct in communicating our needs without being dismissive or judgmental. Conversely, don’t take it personally when your offer is declined, simply make adjustments to find an agreeable place to meet and play.

9) Remember to ask before providing feedback, and be open to receiving feedback, this is how we grow together.

10) Practice radical inclusivity with our Acro community. Approach people of all skill levels regardless of your own, because we learn and grow together. If you see someone watching longingly invite them to play, especially if you don’t know who they are. Lets spread the Acro love and continue to grow our community.

11) Have fun fabulous Acro people!
