Description:
What makes Kelowna's wastewater treatment facility unique? Where does the water go when you flush the toilet? Why does wastewater have to be cleaned? Learn about the process of microbiology and more during this presentation offered by City of Kelowna Wastewater Treatment staff members. Our Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF), serves approximately 80 per cent of Kelowna’s population and the treatment process protects Okanagan Lake and connected waterways. Without treatment, wastewater would flow directly into the freshwater source that supplies our drinking water. This would threaten public health, fisheries, wildlife habitat, tourism and recreation opportunities.
