Description:
COSAR is the oldest volunteer search and rescue organization in BC, and one of the busiest in Canada. Their specialty teams include high angle rope rescue, swiftwater, boat & kayak, ATV, UTV, E-Bikes, snowmobile and K9 searching. This presentation by veteran members will provide a history of COSAR from their founding in 1954, as well as various operations to explore what the subjects did right (and what they could have done better). As well as sharing insight on tips to stay alive in the woods, the presentation also highlights the AdventureSmart 3T's: Training, Trip Planning and the Ten Essentials. Even if you don't consider yourself an outdoor adventurer, we all have a loved one who does. Come down and learn the best ways you can keep yourself and your friends and family safe while exploring the outdoors!
