Chris Holmes Memorial Scholarship and Conservation Fund

This memorial fund was set up in Chris' name to honor and celebrate his life by raising money for the causes he cared passioniotly about and held close to his heart. Donations will help to fund a SMLI Summer Camp Scholarship established last year under Chris's name to ensure that local children can enjoy educational opportunities and childcare at camps right here in their hometown. Additional funds raised will be used to celebrate celebrate Chris's lifetime contributions and dedication to enviromental conservation by contributing to the causes he cared most deeply about.  Last year, we commited to a sizable contribution to the reintroduction of oysters to strengthen our surrounding marine environment. A cause very close to Chris's heart.

Every fall an annual Fall Festival will be held to celebrate the life of Chris and raise money for the fund.  This year, on November 5th, we will be hosting the Great Pumpkin Smash Fall Festival in honor of Chris.  Guests are invited to bring their old pumpkins and gourds to smash and be turned into compost instead of going into the trash!  To learn more go to www.smli.org/pumpkinsmash.
