Description:
This is an older, advanced sailing/racing class for those with 3-4 years sailing experience and an strong interest in refining tactical boathandling, sail trim, terminology, and racing strategy. Racers must demonstrate maturity, common sense and attention to detail and safety. Students sail in 14' "420 class" sailboats with one other person. In this afternoon class, winds tend to be stronger and the water rougher. Racers practice 4 afternoons each week and travel to regatts almost every Wednesday. Other races may happen on Fridays or weekends. Opti Racing Team: age 10-15 420 Racing Team: age 12-18 110 lbs+ 3-4+ years experience

Required age: 7 - 18 on the day of the activity
Notes: Emergency contacts, medical information, insurance #s, and liability waiver forms must be completed online in Amilia by each student's parent/guardian before their first class. Students are asked to bring their own US Coast Guard approved life vest with a whistle attached (or borrow one of ours), foul weather gear and a water bottle. Classes will meet rain or shine, but students will remain on shore in dangerous weather. Our instructors’ 2024 class placement assignments for last year’s sailors are available.
