By registering for this activity, you will be automatically enrolled in three classes per week:

• Intermediate Ballet runs on Thursdays 7:15-8:30pm and Fridays 6:00-7:30pm
• Intermediate Ballet Technique runs on Fridays 5:00-6:00pm

These ballet classes will follow the RAD Grade 5 syllabus. Students will participate in RAD Class Awards or Examinations at the teacher's discretion. We advise students to be 10-13 years of age with previous ballet experience. Please contact us if you have questions about placement.

If you are new to the Accelerated Program and are interested in joining, please contact the Admissions Coordinator at info@theartsconservatory.ca prior to registering, to determine correct placement into our classes.

Your child will develop the following skills in Intermediate Ballet:

• understanding and performing Grade 5 syllabus material which includes both classical and character work
• continued development of ballet posture and technique including proper use of feet, developing hip and spine placement, how to jump safely and effectively, turn out, and arm placement
• further development of character which works on various rhythms and folk styles within a ballet setting

Your child will develop the following skills in Ballet Technique:

• Finding various muscle groups to develop and strengthen to achieve better technique in ballet classes. For example hamstring strength and abdominal strength to assist with pelvic alignment and turn out.
• Expand vocabulary and understanding of body anatomy
• How to work the body in new ways that can enhance the classical training

Notes: Dress code: GIRLS: Wear Moi Faustine bodysuit (burgundy), pink ballet tights, Hanami canvas ballet slippers. BOYS: Fitted white t-shirt, black bike shorts, white socks, white Hanami canvas ballet slippers.

Prerequisites: Students in Intermediate 1 Ballet and Ballet Technique (AP) are required to attend all 3 classes per week. They are encouraged (but not required) to join another class in a different style of their choice!
