Description:

This class will focus on intermediate drawing skills and create projects based on each of their formal qualities, these elements include proportion, shading, composition, perspective, line quality, and anatomy. Students will build on their basic knowledge of various drawing tools and techniques to stretch their ability as a 2D artist. This class is designed to touch on the same learning skills as the fundamentals workshop while elaborating on it, and providing more time to extend that fundamental understanding.

Your child will:

• Learn how to accurately depict the size and scale of objects and figures in their drawings.
• Touch on techniques for creating depth and dimensionality through the use of light and shadow.
• Discover how to arrange their drawings in a visually appealing way, using techniques such as balance, contrast, and unity.
• Practice techniques for creating the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface.
• Experiment with varying the thickness, weight, and direction of their lines to create texture and expressiveness in your drawings.
• Understand the basic structure and proportions of the human body, and how to accurately depict it in their drawings.
