Description:

Journey Writing is a unique, creative, introspective, and expressive writing practice that uses contemporary poetry as inspiration. The poems lay a thematic foundation for the full spectrum of things women deal with on the daily from self-sacrifice to self-love, from the mother wound to the healing heart. In this ongoing monthly circle, women will gather to find deeper connection with themselves and one another through the power of putting pen to paper and expressing what's on your heart. Using powerful and provocative prompts from the poems, we will free write for 15 minutes at a time and then share out loud what we've written to be witnessed in the circle without judgement. There is no critiquing or feedback. This work is deeply healing, brutally honest, and inspiringly raw. All you need is a journal, a pen, an open heart, the willingness to listen and be heard, and a desire to express your truths.

Shani Raviv is a writer, circle holder, and creator/facilitator of Journey Writing Circles—a unique, creative, fun, addictive, transformational, healing, bonding, expressive, and introspective writing practice/process that utilizes cool contemporary poetry as inspiration, and for pulling out prompts, with timed freestyle writing and a lot of sharing and witnessing. Leading Journey Writing Circles for adults and teens is her passion and mission in life. She truly believes writing is a powerful form of self-reflection and self-expression and that Writing Truth Heals. She is also a copywriter, copy coach, yoga teacher, and author of the book, Being Ana: a memoir of anorexia nervosa. She loves yoga, poetry, hiking, camping and lives in a semi-rural co-housing community in Lafayette, CO with her teen son and her partner.
