Description:

Little Goslings Ages 4 -5  | Summer Sessions

Opening circle happens around the fire each morning: a time for everyone to be welcomed with warm smiles, Songs, Story, and Giving Thanks.

Thrilling games and co-operative challenges emphasize sensory awareness and physicality with lots of movement, sneaking, hiding, smelling, listening.

Each day is an open world of what kids love: following animal tracks, building shelters, looking for birds, gathering treasures, peeking in animal holes. Looking for plants, exploring the river, and of course: making snail hotels.

Afternoons are a time for timelessness.   This can mean quiet time to listen to a story and rest or explore our way to new and favourite spots.  It is a time for kids to be themselves, be with others, and quietly grow an abiding understanding of themselves and love for the world.

Closing circle is a chance to share on the experiences and special moments of the day, wonder about them and ask questions, laugh, tell stories, sing favourite songs, and make plans for tomorrow.

Summer weeklongs have all the foundational elements of all Guelph Outdoor School programs: responsive mentorship & role modelling, questions and curiosity over facts, games, quiet moments for rest and reflection, and windswept adventure.

Professional staff teams who do this for a living deliver a tailored program with approx. 5:1 participants to instructors.

We specialize in returning your children back to you every day happy and tired, and full of strories.

As always, sliding scale options are available on our economics for a changing world page.

Contact us directly to arrange. • Food: Please pack a full day of [litter-less] snacks and lunch for your young person. In our experience: unprocessed, low sugar foods will help keep kids going steady all day long. • Water: Please equip your young person with a durable water bottle 1 litre minimum. Our level of activity requires lots of water. There will be extra water, and please still pack as if there weren’t! • Clothing: make daily judgments on dressing well for the weather. Keep in mind that we don't have indoor space: just a small wall tent to get changed, etc. Long (and light) pants are great for avoiding bugs and scrapes. Kids love wading into the river, so water shoes and bathing suit is always good. Water shoes for river time as we cannot control what goes into the river, and broken glass is on ongoing concern. Provide sun gear, like a brimmed hat. The camp is run primarily in the shade of a cedar grove and can be a degree milder than out in the open, but we do get out on the land and into the sun. Labelled rain gear and a second set of clothes can be kept on site, at parent's own risk. Cancellation Policy: $50 from each registration is considered a deposit. A full refund (minus deposit) can be issued if a family cancels with at least 21 days' notice. Although, we rarely need to do so, we reserve the right to cancel a program or change a program duration, tuition or location. The Guelph Outdoor School is not responsible for costs associated in these cases. We are unable to offer refunds if any duration of a program is cancelled due to inclement weather, or circumstances out of our control.

Prerequisites: Participants MUST be at least 4 years of age on the first day of participation.
