Location: Thamesford Area Swimming Pool | 204 George Street, Thamesford, ON, N0M 2M0

Description:

This course is held over the course of two consecutive weekends. Friday classes will run from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Saturday and Sunday classes will run from 9:00am - 1:00pm. With the exam happening on the 2nd Sunday (July 28th) from 2pm-5pm

The Bronze Medallion course teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the components of water-rescue.

Candidates learn tows & carries and methods that will prepare them for challencing rescues in aquatic lifesaving scenarios. Lifesavers will develop stroke efficiencies and endurance in a 500m timed swim.

The course includes a total of 20 hours of classroom and water instruction. Participants are required to have a manual, which can be purchased in the Store or at the Thamesford Area Swimming Pool.

Emergency First Aid with CPR-B is also taught within the 20 hours of instruction. 

An Exam will take place on the last day of the course July 28th from 2pm to ~5pm. Emergency First Aid with CPR-B requires a written exam which will be done first. Then the in water examination for Bronze Medallion will start at 2:00pm and go until approximately 5:00pm (dependent on class time and weather). 

This course is a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross.

Notes: This course will run in light rain or overcast weather. Cancelled classes due to extreme weather or mechanical issues or participants who miss class due to illness or unforeseeable personal circumstances will be offered make up classes within the course time frame and will be based on facility and instructor availability. The in water exam for this course will occur on July 28th from 2:00pm to approximately 5:00pm (class size and weather depending)

Prerequisites: Candidates must be at least 13 years of age or have completed their Bronze Star. A minimum of 4 candidates is required to run the course.
