No class on March 30th due to Spring Break

Taught by new instructor Eric Jensen:

This course is perfect for beginning or building your understanding of the ceramic medium. Our instructor  will take students through all clay construction methods as well as studio etiquette. As is with our other courses, each session varies on content and instructions so if you have specific goals talk with Eric!

This course is flexible but designed to match different levels. Students may be at different levels or stages on projects but newcomers will always be given a fair introduction to the space and practices with no pressure to "catch up" - ceramics are about life-long learning!

Instructor Eric Jensen:

Eric Jensen is a high school art teacher in Portland, OR, where he teaches Jewelry and Sculpture. He received a Bachelor's degree in Art Practice from Portland State University, where he focused on integrating ceramics, printmaking and shop-craft into a creative practice. Eric is a former coordinator of the Materials Lab at Portland State, where he facilitated a wide variety of workshops, classes and studio practice associated with the art and architecture programs.

The son of a potter, and passionate about teaching, creating, and sharing creative space, Eric grew up digging holes for, and throwing rocks over pitfirings. His first remembered ceramics experience was at UC Berkeley in 1986, where he threw a very heavy bowl out of a red earthenware clay body. Eric recently built his second small pottery studio, where he makes work, teaches classes, and facilitates neighborhood raku firings. His goal has been to bring neighbors, creatives and kindred spirits together to share space, make art and enjoy each other’s company.
