CONTENT Maybe you’ve dabbled and maybe you’re a true beginner; maybe you’ve written in other parts of your life but never for the stage? Whatever your level of experience, the Playwriting class will walk you through the basics of how to write a play. We’ll look at the fundamentals of storytelling, explore tips and tricks for structure, and take deep dives into dialogue, character building, and most importantly … how to trust your instincts and get out of your own way! Participants in this workshop will also have the chance to hear their work read by actors, a critical part of the playwriting process. OBJECTIVES * Learn to the basics of playwriting: characters, dialogue, structure, story, and more * Develop strategies and habits for writing that will help move forward in future courses or independent work * Explore how to capture the beginnings of an idea and then develop it into something bigger * Explore voice, impulse, and instinct, and apply them to writing * Work towards the completion of a small project TEACHER : Jeremy Taylor
