Course Description In Theatre I, participants will engage in a hands-on exploration of the basic fundamental skills of a performer. Through a series of theatre exercises, participants will connect to the power of their voice, gain awareness of their bodies in space, and unlock their creativity through the development of characters and exploration of storytelling. In a playful environment, with commitment and full engagement, participants will explore a variety of actor techniques to help bring their best foot forward as performers – and in their everyday lives. The course will end with an open class to share some of what has been learned over the 10 weeks. Objectives The objectives for this course are: To introduce and develop basic skills of acting: awareness of breath, voice, & movement; trusting one’s impulses; making bold choices; and working as an ensemble. To develop the inner artist by instilling confidence and encouraging agency. To develop a respect and rigour for the craft. To have fun. Teacher Jessica Abdallah
