We are thrilled to invite you to join us in the Suwa'lkh Medicine Garden and Healing Forest this spring! The Suwa'lkh site is located at 1432 Brunette Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 6X5. Our field trips are 2 hours long and include a connection with a local Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, farm or forest restoration work experience, as well as a tasting of farm-fresh veggies or forest tea. For fall 2023, field trips are available on Tuesdays only, 9:30-11:30.
Salmon, squirrels, ravens, and raccoons are just some of the tails you might find in the forest. And people have been telling tales to teach about those tails for thousands of years. What tales will you discover?
Flower, leaves, and salmon all appear in the spring! What changes are happening with the plants, animals, and people in the forest as the season of rest turns to the season of growth?
“You can eat that???” Yes, you can! Explore often overlooked foods in the forest and garden as you learn about ethical foraging and some of the traditional food and medicine uses of common plants.
Team Builds are a chance for students (and teachers and chaperones!) to get their hands really dirty and give back to the land. This program includes an introduction to Fresh Roots and the many things we do, and plenty of time to work on projects around the forest and farm, from weeding to invasive species removal and more. Exact projects will vary depending on the group and the needs of the site.
Prices are based on group size.

So that we can give students the best hands-on experience, classes may not come together unless the total number of students is 24 or fewer for grades K-4, or 35 or fewer for grades 5-12.
We can host up to 35 youth (40 max including teachers/chaperones) on either of our farm sites.
We require 1 teacher/chaperone for every 8 grade K-3 students and for every 10 grade 4-12 students. Required adults are included in the group cost. If your group needs more adult assistance, please let us know on the registration form.
