Advanced campers will reach grand heights this year on a five-day trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains. From spruce and fir forest summits to the depths of Linville Caverns, campers are introduced to a comprehensive experience and understanding of the Blue Ridge Province. Day trips to nearby field study sites will immerse participants in unique mountain plant communities, fantastic geologic formations and rare and endangered wildlife. Human impact on mountain ecosystems will also be examined when we visit the Bon-Ami mine/museum and the abandoned ghost town of Lost Cove. Tubing and snorkeling a clear mountain stream, campfires under the stars, breathtaking mountain vistas, gems, salamanders and more await the naturalist adventurer. All overnights and most meals take place in Calvin Cottage at Blowing Rock Conference Center. Please contact PEC at 336.883.8531 for a brochure and schedule of activities.
