Description :
Ron Krystynak This course will use anthropological principles to examine relevant current issues that affect our society. Anthropology is the study of humankind and historically has focused on "exotic" other cultures. This course will focus on current issues affecting industrial societies. We will begin by examining the business world. Anthropologists provide a different perspective on business than, say, economists. Other topical issues to be addressed include underlying reasons for ethnic and sectarian conflict; globalization and transnational mobility fueling modern-day slavery; implications of same-sex marriage and changing family structure; and is social media changing and reshaping culture.
