Ron Krystynak

The increasing price of food in Canada has become an issue for public discussion.  This presentation will discuss Canada's food system from farm to retail.  The course will discuss the various factors that are responsible for Canada having higher food prices than in the United States.  I will also suggest ways of maintaining a nutritious diet while reducing grocery costs.  Climate change is another factor that is influencing food prices.  For those who might be interested, I will identify fruits and vegetables to grow that will have the largest impact on reducing food costs.

FYI, my first job with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada was in the Food Markets Analysis Division, so this class will take me back to that part of my career.
