Description :

Professor Werner - Okanagan College, Department of Anthropology

Few of us will ever make or use a stone tool. Yet this technology, first developed 3.3 million years ago, was fundamental for human existence until very recently. Many of these skills were completely lost and only rediscovered in the 20th century by archaeologists, hobbyists, and other knowledge keepers. Stone toolmaking involves techniques called flintknapping, which manipulates basic physics to create diverse shapes and designs.

Professor Werner is an avid and skilled stone toolmaker. He'll explain how stone-age tools are made and demonstrate some of the key techniques.
