Sailors should be able to comfortably rig and sail an Opti alone, tack and jibe with ease, sail upwind efficiently and follow directions quickly. Students will sail alone in 8' Optimist prams in higher winds. On the first day, students are required to swim the length of the dock (30 ft - without floatation aids) and then put on a lifejacket while in the water - when it is thrown to them.
