Description:

Students will explore some new twists on some well-known fairytales to investigate solutions for each story’s obstacles while exploring several different areas of engineering. As civil engineers students design a sturdy house for the three little pigs to protect them from the big bad wolf. Students use mechanical engineering skills to design different modes of transportation, such as a getaway vehicle and parachute for the heroine Kate in her escape from the beanstalk. As civil engineers students construct a bridge for the Billy Goats to quietly cross and a tower for Rapunzel. Students will engage with engineering concepts using a hands on approach to help better understand the Engineering Design Process.

Students will take home a project each day and will learn classroom skills and how things work through games, building, and constructive play.
