Description:

Tera Bites is for younger kids, a bit too young for the challenging Core Curriculum courses. Tera Bites is a gentle introduction to sailing for 8- and 9-year-olds.  It meets daily, Monday through Friday, for two hours each day. It is an off-the-beach sailing experience scheduled around high tide with minimal classroom time.

Tera Bites is named after the boats we use. The Tera is a “tea cup” dinghy, easy to handle, forgiving, and just the right size for aspiring younger sailors.

Every young sailor gets a turn at the helm, taking command of their vessel every day. The fleet of Teras sail just off the beach in shallow water. They are closely supervised by our watchful kid-friendly staff. Parents are always welcome to observe, encourage – and take photos.

Color-coded buoys provide a practice course to develop steering and tacking skills. It is perfect for cautious young juniors needing a gentle intro to sailing. No reading and no final exam. Just fun!

Tera Bites is very popular. Classes fill quickly. Space is strictly limited. We recommend that you claim your spot early.

               Greenwich Residents

Tod’s Point Sailing School is located in Greenwich Point Park which requires Town issued Beach Passes or Guest Passes for access to the Park. Greenwich residents can apply for Beach Passes at Town Hall.

             Out-of-Town Visitors

Out-of-town parents dropping off and picking up their children for scheduled Tod’s Point Sailing School programs may enter the park in accordance with the following guidelines. The parent must show proof (TPSS Registration receipt) that the children being dropped off are enrolled in a sailing program on that specific date. The Gatehouse Gatekeeper will hold the driver’s license while they drop off the student(s) and return it when the driver exits the park. That normally takes approximately 15 minutes.

As a reminder, if someone in the car is planning to stay at the beach and not leave immediately, they need to have a day pass to stay in the park for that day. If the parent dropping off the children plans on staying in the park, they would need a parking pass for the car and a day pass for each person in the car. The passes can be purchased on line Monday through Friday from May 1st through October 31st.

Out of Town Non-Resident Guest Passes can be purchased online on the Town of Greenwich website here.
