Description:

May 15 - This program will provide an introduction to the concepts we will explore further during our night program with astronomy professor Greg Arkos on May 21st. In this program, we will be learning about the planets, sun, stars, and moon. We will put together our own sundials, create orbits on our gravity board, learn about constellations with a planisphere, and make an end effector that can grab items!

May 21 - This program will take place from 6:30-8:00 PM at Pipers Lagoon on Tuesday May 21st.

Students and their families will have the opportunity to explore different activity stations for the first hour of our program, reviewing content about orbits, moon phases, and astronomy. Stations will include: a telescope provided by Prof. Arkos, an activity where we will simulate how sunlight interacts with earth's atmosphere, a constellation craft, and more.

We will then be treated to a talk from Dr. Arkos who will share information about the moon which will be nearly full on this day.  Dr. Arkos will also share information about his career in Astronomy and answer questions from participants.

We ask that parents/adult caregivers attend this program with their student children - please stay on site throughout this amazing experience.

This program is also weather-contingent - we will be in contact if inclement conditions require a change.
