May 29 - This program will provide an introduction to the concepts we will explore further during our trip VIU's Earth Sciences Department on June 5. In this lesson students will explore the geological processes that influence earth’s landforms. Students will learn about the rock cycle, identifying different rocks, and how different types of landforms are formed by geological processes; including our local environment! 

June 5 - This program will take place at Vancouver Island University in their Earth Sciences Department. It will be faciliated by Professor Gerri McEwan. We will get to see fossils, use microscopes, and experience their augmented reality sandbox.

This program covers BC Science curriculum including:

• Demonstrate curiosity about the natural world 

• Observe objects and events in familiar contexts 

• Safely use appropriate tools to make observations and measurements 

• Biomes as large regions with similar environmental features

• Local types of earth materials 

• Experience and interpret the local environment
