Description:

The Discover Rowing Camp is a fantastic way for youth ages 12-17 yrs to learn about rowing and decide whether to take up the sport more seriously and for those who have already tried and enjoyed rowing it is a way further improve rowing skills!

The Discover Rowing Camp runs in week-long sessions from 8:30am to 3:30pm, except on public holidays. Each week is directed by experienced instructors who are qualified in first aid and CPR. Rowers get out on the Ottawa River daily, and learn water safety, boat rigging and maintenance. The program also features other age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.

Those registering for two or more weeks will receive advanced instruction in their subsequent week(s). 

Equipment and supplies needed:

  • snug, comfortable sports clothing - weather appropriate
  • socks - shoes are provided in boats
  • running shoes for indoor and outdoor activities
  • hat and sunscreen
  • water bottle
  • lunch and snacks required - there is no on site food sold. 

Registration is a two step process. It can be done in any order

  1.  Rowing Canada and RowOntario membership fee must be registered annually. Make sure to go to the "Join A Program" link. No payment will take place on this site. 
  2. ORC Registration on Amilia  - Program fee and RCA/RO membership fee paid here

Notes: Ottawa Rowing Club Refund Policy: A registrant may request a refund from the ORC: 1. Before the published program start date. A written request for a refund must be received by the Registrar before the published program start date. All written requests must be addressed to registrar@ottawarowingclub.com for refund through Amilia, or include the name and address to the person to whom the refund cheque should be addressed. A $100 administrative fee shall be deducted from each program refund issued. 2. In the event that a program is cancelled after the program start date, due to facility shutdown, the registrant may apply for a pro-rated refund. The pro-rated refund is applied from the date at which the ORC officially shuts down to the program end date. A written request must be addressed to registrar@ottawarowingclub.com for refund through Amilia, or include the name and address to the person to whom the refund cheque should be addressed. A $100 administrative fee shall be deducted from each pro-rated refund issued. 3. Due to serious injury. In the event that the registrant is unable to participate in rowing for the remainder of their registered program - as evidenced by a certificate from a medical doctor - the registrant may apply for a pro-rated refund. The pro-rated refund is applied from the date at which the written request PLUS the medical doctor's certificate are received at registrar@ottawarowingclub.com. A $100 administrative fee shall be deducted from each pro-rated refund issued. All ORC members must familiarize themselves with and abide by the ORC rules and policy manual.

Prerequisites: No previous rowing experience required.
