Boating is fun and relaxing but comes with its own set of risks. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to name the parts of a boat; understand boating terms, describe important safety equipment that should be on a boat; how to choose a life jacket that is right for their weight and water activity; explain how to board a boat, understand how to balance a boat; and explain what to do if a boat capsizes. Youth will also spend time in the pool learning five water survival skills, what to do if they fall out of a boat, basic rescues, CPR skills -- and fun paddling in the boat!
